A pregnant harbor seal that was shot in the head by a fisherman with a pellet gun off the coast of Seattle lost an eye but is returning to the wild after undergoing surgery and rehabilitative care. More than 21% of the 896 harbor seals found stranded after human interactions in the past 25 years had been shot, according to a study published in Aquatic Mammals Journal.
