N.C. wildlife officials call for education about coyotes

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission's draft coyote management plan notes that despite deer hunters' belief that coyotes are responsible for declining white-tailed deer populations, hunters are the primary cause of deer mortality, and the plan emphasizes the need for public education. The plan suggests avoiding areas where coyotes are known to frequent, and using lethal and nonlethal methods, including fences, to protect livestock.
