Experts urge more research on SARS-CoV-2 in pets, livestock

More research is needed to determine which animal species are vulnerable to SARS-CoV-2 and identify the best diagnostic tests available for pets and livestock, according to an article in the journal Vector-Borne and Zoonotic Diseases. Cases in livestock and poultry could have economic and food security consequences, and there could also be national security concerns if the virus affects dogs' ability to smell, the authors say.
