Led by a pack of six Boykin spaniels, a team of veterinary students and researchers combed Illinois' Nachusa Grasslands in search of ornate box turtles. The students, from the University of Illinois Wildlife Epidemiology Laboratory, drew blood, prepared samples and performed health assessments of the threatened turtles.
