Researchers published a global map of bee populations in Current Biology to establish a baseline and best practices for future studies and conservation efforts. Bee diversity is lowest near the equator, higher in the Northern Hemisphere than in the Southern Hemisphere, and higher in dry desert and temperate environments than in humid environments and forested areas.
