Australian Veterinary Association President Dr. Julia Crawford says veterinarians throughout the continent are grieving over the devastation intense wildfires have wrought on wildlife, while at the same time they are struggling with lost income in what is normally their busiest time of year. In response, the Australian Association of Psychologists and wellbeing charity Love Your Pet Love Your Vet have set up a hotline offering free psychological support for veterinary professionals, and the AVA is working with the New South Wales Wildlife Information and Rescue Service to provide $1 million in aid to affected veterinary clinics.
