Study shows potential for pig virus to infect other animals, people

A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences demonstrated that a porcine deltacoronavirus protein can bind to aminopeptidase N receptors on the cells of humans and other species, suggesting that the virus may pose a threat to human and animal health. The researchers will next look for blood antibodies that would indicate the virus has already infected people.
