Four reindeer at Minnesota Zoo have recovered from epizootic hemorrhagic disease, but four other reindeer died, and some of the zoo's bison, gazelles, moose and pronghorns also tested positive. Zookeepers moved the reindeer from their exhibit; gave medical treatment to the infected animals; intensified efforts to eradicate biting midges, which spread the disease; and are investigating other preventive measures.
