Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials rescued a 155-pound female green sea turtle found off Key Largo with a 3-foot-long spear protruding from the base of her neck and a rope and lobster trap buoy stuck to the spear. Veterinarian Doug Mader at the Marathon Turtle Hospital performed endoscopic surgery to remove the spear, and hospital chairman Richard Moretti is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of whomever shot the endangered animal.
