Veterinarians in the Las Vegas area say they have seen an influx of dogs with parvovirus, a highly contagious, often fatal disease that is easily prevented by vaccination. Unvaccinated dogs that live in apartment buildings or that go to dog parks are at particularly high risk, but anyone adopting a new dog should obtain vaccination records to confirm the animal is protected or have it vaccinated, says veterinarian Taylor Parker.
