Heavy rain in southern China has contributed to outbreaks of African swine fever virus, according to a survey of small producers, corporate farmers, traders and slaughterhouses in 20 provinces. Analysts say the virus may be spreading through groundwater contaminated with the carcasses of dead pigs farmers have buried.
