Pets might help humans sleep better

The human brain releases oxytocin when we pat a dog or cat, and studies have shown that people who spend time with companion animals generally have lower stress levels and better blood pressure control than those who don't, says sleep medicine specialist Lois Krahn. Pets can help people establish routines, and having a mature, happy pet around can improve sleep patterns, Krahn says.
