Removal of cat's pituitary tumor curbs diabetes

A surgical team led by veterinarian Tina Owen at Washington State University's Veterinary Teaching Hospital removed a tumor from the pituitary gland of a cat. The diabetic 10-year-old Maine coon needed extremely high doses of insulin before the surgery, but now she needs no more than one normal dose a day and may ultimately be cured, Dr. Owen said.
