Cyanobacteria blooms in the lakes and ponds of southeastern North Carolina could endanger dogs and other animals that drink, swim in or otherwise contact contaminated water, according to a statement issued by a local veterinarian. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, disorientation and respiratory problems.
