Proposed legislation in Florida that would permanently ease restrictions on veterinary telemedicine could inadvertently cause misdiagnoses that lead to suffering, increase misuse of opioid drugs and enable unscrupulous breeders to escape notice, veterinarians say. "I am not against telemedicine; I think it has a valuable place in my profession when used appropriately, such as follow-ups, but to be able to establish a valid client-patient relationship without a physical examination is a dangerous mistake," veterinarian Scott Richardson said.
