Distemper vaccination protects pets, wildlife

Canine distemper virus can infect foxes, raccoons, skunks and unvaccinated dogs, and California Fish and Wildlife officials are reminding dog owners to vaccinate their pets and avoid attracting wildlife to their yards. "Wild animals can spread distemper to domestic dogs, but unvaccinated domestic dogs can also spread the disease to wild animals," said CDFW senior wildlife veterinarian Deana Clifford.
