Immunotherapy lengthens lives of dogs with bone cancer

An immunotherapy based on autologous cancer cells extended the expected life span of dogs with canine osteosarcoma, researchers at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine report, and veterinarians are enrolling patients in a larger clinical trial. The FDA also approved a clinical trial to test the approach in people with glioblastoma multiforme, an aggressive type of brain cancer.
