The National Institute of Food and Agriculture, National Science Foundation, NIH and the UK's Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council are funding a $3 million, 4-year study on the evolution of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome. Study leader Kim VanderWaal, an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota's College of Veterinary Medicine, says the study might lead to better control methods and improve scientists' understanding of other viruses that affect humans and other animals.
