Halloween is full of hidden dangers for pets

Even pets that tolerate being put in a Halloween costume should be closely supervised to ensure they don't chew on the outfit and choke, and costumes that have hats or collars that go around the pet's neck can also pose choking hazards, writes veterinarian Kait Betchel. Cats and dogs can be spooked by trick-or-treaters and should be kept in a secure location on Halloween, and candy should be kept out of reach because it can poison pets, Dr. Betchel writes.
