Vehicle strikes on wildlife declined by 21% in California, 38% in Idaho and nearly 50% in Maine from early March to mid-April as people heeded orders to stay home during the coronavirus pandemic, researchers at the University of California at Davis reported. In California, reported mountain lion deaths were 56% lower over the 10-week study period than in the 10 weeks since.
