Bovine tuberculosis was found recently in beef cattle in Alcona County, Mich., according to the state Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and state Department of Natural Resources officials are asking deer hunters in 16 counties to submit deer heads for free testing. Bovine TB was found in deer in 10 counties last year, and state wildlife veterinarian Kelly Straka says Michigan is the only state in which bovine TB is established in wild deer.
