Pet rabbits should not be fed iceberg lettuce and should be fed far more grass or grass hay than food pellets, veterinarians say. Rabbits need room to run and shouldn't be kept in small cages all the time; their cages should not be placed in direct sunlight; they should never be lifted by the forelegs or armpits; and their teeth should be checked regularly and trimmed only by a veterinarian.
