Eight orphaned black bears that were fattened up this fall at a nonprofit facility in southern Colorado were tranquilized and tucked into man-made dens on Pikes Peak. The cubs' mothers were poached, killed by vehicles or euthanized after coming into conflict with people, and the cubs were also taught to fear humans to prevent such conflicts.
