Brachycephalic dogs are much more likely than dogs with longer snouts to suffer from corneal ulceration, heart murmur, umbilical hernia and other common disorders, according to a study led by the UK Royal Veterinary College's VetCompass. Veterinarian Dan O'Neill, the study's lead author, said people should "think carefully about the lives that these dogs live" before buying a flat-faced puppy.
