Canada's new rules on veterinary oversight of antimicrobials in animals went into effect Dec. 1, and the requirement that livestock managers establish a client-patient relationship with a veterinarian may have positive ripple effects, says veterinarian Mike Jelinski. A knowledgeable veterinarian can help producers improve nutrition, breeding and vaccination programs as well as other important aspects of livestock husbandry, Dr. Jelinski says.
