Parvovirus spreading in NW La.

A volunteer with an animal rescue group in northwestern Louisiana says she has seen at least 10 puppies with parvovirus this year, and the virus has caused DeSoto Parish Animal Services to temporarily stop taking in dogs due to full capacity. The parvovirus vaccine is inexpensive, while treatment can cost thousands of dollars, says Connie Philipp, director of the parish's animal services department.
