SARS-CoV-2 surveillance in animals continues

Scientists worldwide are monitoring wild and domestic animals for SARS-CoV-2 infections to ensure animals do not become viral reservoirs, and the results of many studies have been reassuring. The virus probably jumped from an animal species to humans, and if it were to jump to another species, it could result in a new variant that resists existing vaccines.
