An FDA policy on lab animal adoption that took effect late last year has now been publicly announced by the agency. It allows the adoption or transfer of lab animals to shelters or sanctuaries after experiments end. Regarding this policy and other recently implemented federal regulations for animal research, National Association for Biomedical Research President Matthew R. Bailey said "there is some language that could set a dangerous precedent for deciding how research in the U.S. should be conducted in the future."
