The hormone lipocalin-2 has a role in satiety after eating, and studies in mice and monkeys suggest supplemental LCN2 could help prevent or reverse obesity. The hormone, secreted by bone cells, works in the hypothalamus, and people who had obesity or overweight had lower levels of LCN2 after eating than people of a healthy weight, and the hormone suppressed monkeys' appetites in a study published in eLife.
