Public health experts say the best way to prevent another pandemic is to deploy teams of veterinarians, zoologists and biologists to monitor animal health as well as the health of people who work with animals. "Future efforts in zoonotic disease surveillance should include strong integration of animal and human agencies of health, including wildlife, agriculture and public health," said epidemiologist John Brownstein, chief innovation officer at Boston Children's Hospital.
