Cure for canine brain cancer might save human lives

Canine and human gliomas have similar frequencies, gene mutations, molecular pathways and immunological environments within the body, meaning research to cure canine brain cancer could translate to human medicine, researchers reported in Cancer Cell. The researchers compared naturally occurring tumor samples from 83 dogs to glioma samples from human children and adults and found close similarities that could ultimately guide development of treatments, especially for children.
