A German shepherd dog in New York that displayed signs of respiratory illness tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 infection, and another dog in the household tested positive for antibodies to the virus, according to the USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. "Based on the limited information available, the risk of animals spreading the virus to people is considered to be low," APHIS said in a press release. The USDA will post confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection in new animal species on the APHIS animal health website.
