US trade officials on Monday proposed tariffs as high as 100% on an array of French imports including sparkling wines such as Champagne. The proposal is a response to a report by the Office of the United States Trade Representative, which finds a new French tax on digital services that affect American technology firms such as Facebook and Google presents a barrier to trade.
