Even though glass is a more stable market compared to the recycling of other materials, the US has a lower rate of glass recycled compared to other countries such as Spain or the UK. To boost glass recycling in the US, government policy needs to address dual-stream recycling -- which results in far higher recycling rates for glass -- and educating consumers on glass collection and recycling, says Joseph Cattaneo, a Glass Packaging Institute spokesperson.
