Indonesia will appeal EU palm oil directive at WTO

Indonesia plans to dispute a forthcoming EU directive regarding renewable energy through the World Trade Organization in an effort to protect its palm oil exports. An Indonesian policy-stance document details the country's argument against the directive, stating that the EU method of measuring unintended carbon-emissions risk was not universally accepted, not applicable to the tropics and "gives advantages to local European Union commodities such as rapeseed oil."
