USDA, FDA partner to regulate cultured-meat production

The US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service has joined forces with the Food and Drug Administration to create a joint regulatory framework for cultured meat. The decision to involve both agencies in the regulation of lab-grown meat leaves big questions as to how these food products will be categorized and labeled, with the toughest battle likely to involve whether they can be referred to as "meat."
