Top 10: General Mills may hike prices, Mod Pizza maps growth plan

An announcement by General Mills Chief Executive Officer Jeff Harmening that the company may raise prices to offset rising transportation and food costs was this week's most-clicked story among SmartBrief food and beverage readers. Hermening also said the company may divest some of its weaker brands and look to acquire new businesses that have stronger potential for growth. Mod Pizza's plans to grow to more than 400 locations this year grabbed the attention of readers in the restaurant industry. The fast-casual pizza chain plans to open about 100 new units in 2018, after adding 110 locations last year.

Grocery retailer SUPERVALU made headlines with its announcement that it will sell its 38 Farm Fresh stores as it focuses on its wholesale business. Also in grocery retail news: Blue Apron revealed plans to bring its meal kits to retail stores, although a retail partner has not yet been announced.
