Top 10: McDonald’s new NYC flagship, Ben & Jerry’s considers CBD, Sprouts expands
A feature on McDonald's new flagship store in Times Square was among the week's most-clicked food and beverage stories. The three-story restaurant boasts tech features including 18 ordering kiosks, digital menu boards and wireless tabletop charging stations for mobile devices. In other restaurant news, Chipotle made headlines this week with its announcement that the chain will roll out a new beverage program, but it won't be offering breakfast any time in the near future.
The week's most-clicked story came from General Mills, in which CEO Jeff Harmening identified three key industry changes. He said the biggest changes the company has seen in the industry are a transforming retail landscape, shifting consumer food values and the strategies that CPG manufacturers use to go to market. Mars Wrigley was also in the news this week, announcing leadership changes that include a new global chief category officer and a new US marketing position. In product news, Ben & Jerry's made waves with its announcement that it plans to develop a CBD ice cream once the cannabis-derived compund is legal in all 50 states.
In food retail news, grocery chain Sprouts Farmers Market drew in readers with the news that it will opening its first store in New Jersey this week.
