SmartPulse — our weekly reader poll in SmartBrief on Workforce — tracks feedback from leading managers and HR practitioners. We run the poll question each Wednesday in our e-newsletter.
Last week, we asked: Did HP do the right thing by dumping CEO Mark Hurd?
- Yes, they showed that even the highest-ranked person is subject to ethical standards, 77.96%
- I’m not sure, 11%
- No — they were too harsh on him given that it seemed to be only minor violations, 11%
The overwhelming majority of you agreed with HP’s decision to part with Mark Hurd. After reading through the available news reports, however, count me as unsure. We may never know what really did or did not happen between Mark Hurd and Jodie Fisher. I definitely don’t envy HP’s HR department in this case.
