SmartBrief and WISPA Launch Publication for Wireless Internet Service Providers

WISPA SmartBrief will deliver advocacy, education and networking news to thousands of wireless broadband industry professionals

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, November 19, 2019, SmartBrief starts a new publication in partnership with the Wireless Internet Services Providers Association (WISPA).

The twice-weekly newsletter, WISPA SmartBrief, will provide telecommunications industry news and developments to the entrepreneurs, innovators and professionals working in the broadband wireless space.

WISPA represents fixed wireless internet service providers, equipment manufacturers and service vendors who provide fast, affordable broadband internet service in their largely rural communities throughout America.

“Six million individuals and businesses get their broadband from fixed wireless providers, otherwise known as WISPs. WISPA SmartBrief will cover everything these providers need to know about the changes impacting the dynamic fixed wireless broadband industry,” said Isabel Kunkle, editor of WISPA SmartBrief.

WISPA’s mission is to build an environment where communities grow through robust 21st century connectivity and competition. The organization strives to promote the development, advancement and unification of the fixed wireless internet service provider industry.

WISPA works to build a bipartisan congressional solution to internet openness that ensures consumer protection, anti-discrimination, robust competition and healthy broadband deployment to serve all Americans, no matter where they live.

WISPA SmartBrief will serve as a resource to further the organization’s goals to:

Educate policymakers about the effect of legislation and regulations on fixed wireless broadband providers and rural America.

Hold members to high standards of ethical conduct, customer service and technical excellence.

Ensure members are up to date on the latest developments in fixed wireless business, policy and industry trends.

Provide opportunities for WISPs to interact, learn from and help each other.

“We are pleased to partner with SmartBrief to share the latest news in hardware, software, innovative WISP services and important policy updates with WISPA members and the industry at large,” said Claude Aiken, president and CEO of WISPA. “WISPA SmartBrief will play an integral role in keeping industry professionals informed of the latest solutions to bring to their customers.”

WISPA’s approximately 800 members are composed of fixed Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs) and the industry that supports fixed wireless broadband, including equipment suppliers, support services, and other components needed to run a successful business. WISPs provide broadband access to over 6 million residential and business customers, often in exclusively rural areas.
