A data breach affecting 3,000 senior participants of Georgia's Community Care Services Program was reported by the state's Division of Aging Services after an e-mail was inappropriately transmitted to a contracted provider. Compromised data includes patients' diagnoses, but personal data, such as their Social Security numbers and Medicaid numbers, were not disclosed in the incident.

A bipartisan bill in the House of Representatives would update the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act to enhance cybersecurity protections for students. The federal agency in charge of regulating the U.S. energy sector has proposed a new set of standards designed to enhance the cybersecurity of the power grid. The guidelines from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission target communication networks supporting critical infrastructure and seek to strengthen protections against malware delivered through the supply chain.

Madison, Wis., is in the midst of a citywide cyberattack following the fatal shooting last week of an unarmed teenager by police. "They're preventing us from utilizing the Internet. That's a huge thing," said Paul Kronberger, Madison's chief information officer. Madison's police department spokesman added that hacktivist group Anonymous has claimed responsibility for the attack.
