Touch Nail Spa in Wesley Chapel, Fla., near Tampa recently expanded to 4,800 square feet and now features 33 pedicure chairs and 30 manicure stations. The facility can host private parties for groups of up to 20.

Modus is developing a 245-room Pod Hotel for fall 2016, and CEO Aaron Katz believes the new project is in line with the company's "being yourself" concept, which focuses on guests' desire to travel the way they live. "We are living online, sharing experiences, and we can help share them genuinely at the grassroots level," Katz said. "That is why Pod concepts work."

The Playa Largo Resort & Spa, part of the Marriott Autograph Collection, is expected to debut later this year in Key Largo, Fla. Two Keys Collection properties, Gates Hotel and Fairfield Inn and Suites, recently opened in Key West.

Hotels in Sacramento, Calif., such as the Holiday Inn and the Embassy Suites, sold out rooms during the Memorial Day weekend thanks to the business brought in by the Sacramento Music Festival. "This was first year that the music fest actually impacted us and sold us out," said Doug Warren, general manager of Marriott's Courtyard Sacramento and Fairfield Inn Sacramento hotels, both at Cal Expo.

The 225-room Embassy Suites hotel in Raleigh, N.C., was sold by its Texas-based owner and operator FelCor Lodging Trust to an affiliate of JHM Hotels for $22 million. JHM currently has 37 hotels as part of its portfolio, which include three Westin-brand properties and two Fairfield Inn hotels.
