Research suggests the visible universe contains the building blocks for a billion trillion Earth-like planets, but that the vast majority of them haven't yet been formed. That suggests that other intelligent lifeforms could be more likely to evolve as the universe matures and new planets form. "The last star isn't expected to burn out until 100 trillion years from now," the Royal Astronomical Society says. "That's plenty of time for literally anything to happen."
