Ecotricity has built a single turbine at the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds' headquarters in England. The turbine will offset about 800 tons of carbon emissions annually, and will generate the equivalent of about 50% of the total electricity used by the charity. The RSPB argues that climate change is more threatening to bird species than turbines. "Green energy puts power in the hands of the people; the technology allows us to democratize and decentralize energy in Britain," said Ecotricity Founder Dale Vince.
