In the face of a plateauing yogurt market and a consumer shift away from sugar, future growth in the yogurt category could come from savory and global flavors, analysts suggest. In addition, they theorize that yogurt made from nondairy alternatives such as almond milk, flaxmilk and soy milk could draw new consumers to the market.
CPG competitors must become collaborators to achieve the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, said Mars' Ehab Abou-Oaf at a UN-backed conference. "Uncommon collaboration is critical," he said. "This means not just collaborating with governments and NGOs, but within our own industry and with competitors to enable change to happen."
As the demand for natural beauty products grows, Ayurvedic techniques are becoming more popular. Canadian brand Kalp launched its Vijs Namaste Ayurvedic Hand Butter last week, and companies like L'Oréal and Unilever are taking the plunge as well.
Unilever has agreed to buy the Hourglass cosmetics brand as part of its ongoing effort to broaden its prestige personal care and beauty brand portfolio. The company has been expanding its investments in the category since acquiring skin care brands including Dermalogica and REN in 2015.
Sundial Brands-owned SheaMoisture has launched a Men's Beard Care Collection, which includes four products featuring certified organic shea butter and maracuja oil. The new line comprises a face and beard wash, beard conditioning oil, beard balm and full beard detangler.
