Land-based and offshore wind could supply 20% of the world's total electricity needs, generate 2.4 million jobs and cut carbon dioxide emissions by more than 3.6 billion tons annually by 2030, according to scenarios outlined by the Global Wind Energy Council. The report said that the world's total installed wind capacity is expected to increase from 487 gigawatts in 2017 to 817 GW in 2021.
