The number of children who were brought to the emergency department with anaphylaxis increased 150% from 2010 to 2016, and the number of those with suspected anaphylaxis episodes increased 104% during the same period, according to a Blue Cross Blue Shield report. Researchers found that 47% of pediatric anaphylaxis episodes in 2016 were due to food allergies, with peanuts being the most common trigger.
