The US Department of Education recently announced a $2.5 million program to help students with autism or learning disabilities use virtual-reality programs to develop social skills. The VOISS: Virtual Reality Opportunities to Implement Social Skills program was developed by researchers at the University of Kansas' Center for Research on Learning and Department of Special Education to help students learn social cues in a safe, virtual environment.
