Almost 100 rural US hospitals have closed since 2010, mostly in the 14 states that have not expanded their Medicaid programs, and more than 600 are at risk of closing. Hospital CEOs in some states that have not expanded Medicaid support doing so, even as it may not totally solve their financial problems, and in Bosque County, Texas, voters approved a hospital taxing district, which will help Goodall-Witcher Hospital stave off closure.
