Tariffs collected on $250 billion in Chinese goods will not be enough to compensate those in industries hurt in the trade dispute, based on recent government figures, and this gap will become even more noticeable to longer it's allowed to grow. The President committed to paying American farmers $28 billion to compensate them for damages related to the trade war, but total funds raised by Chinese imports only came to about $20.8 billion.
